Job description:

Purpose Of Position

To provide advice and expertise on the geological aspects of development and production in the open pit and underground mine.

Specific Accountabilities/Deliverables

The list of duties and responsibilities below are not exclusive or exhaustive, and the employee will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of grading of the position. All employees are required to be professional, cooperative and flexible in line with the requirements of the position.

  • Structural and geological mapping of development and exploration headings
  • Geological interpretation
  • Preparation of maps and reports
  • Interpretation and calculations of ore reserves
  • Maintenance of the geological database
  • Provision of geological information to operating personnel
  • Planning for drilling and core logging

Working Conditions

  • Underground and surface mining environments.

Selection Criteria

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in progressive “hands on” geology experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of geology acquired through formal education and field mining experience.
  • Thorough understanding of a variety of mineral deposits.
  • Administrative capability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills.
  • The capability to work well with a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creative and energetic environment is critical.
