Underground Maintenance General Foreman

Job description:

Purpose Of Position

To coordinate and supervise maintenance and repairs to underground mining equipment by employees including maintenance of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and related systems.

Specific Accountabilities/Deliverables

The list of duties and responsibilities below are not exclusive or exhaustive, and the employee will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of grading of the position. All employees are required to be professional, cooperative and flexible in line with the requirements of the position.

• Direct the maintenance department in day-to-day activities and comply with established policies, procedures, laws and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program for underground and surface equipment at a large mining complex
• Maintain reports and records as required by company and regulatory agencies.
• Propose and define projects related to achieving company goals and objectives.

• Underground and surface mining environments.

Selection Criteria

• Minimum 5 years experience managing maintenance activities at and underground mining operation
• Current electrical Certification
• Must be knowledgeable with mining regulations pertaining to underground mining including electrical permissibility.
• Ability to install, inspect, repair and maintain electrical, plumbing, and other related systems
• Ability to perform various clean-up and maintenance tasks as needed
• Ability to inspect, operate and maintain the heating and ventilation systems
• Administrative capability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills.
• The capability to work well with a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creative and energetic environment is critical.
