Job description:

Purpose Of Position

To provide and oversee all aspects of safety, procedural and heavy equipment training for above ground mining employees contributing to the overall safe and efficient operation of Brigus Gold Corporation.

Specific Accountabilities/Deliverables

The list of duties and responsibilities below are not exclusive or exhaustive, and the employee will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of grading of the position. All employees are required to be professional, cooperative and flexible in line with the requirements of the position.

  • Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all activities related to mine operations training.
  • Format operations training materials, track operator competency and manage training information.
  • Determine training objective through coordination with mine management.
  • Conduct classroom and field training of new hires: site orientation and operation of equipment.
  • Available for questions/requests related to mine operations training.
  • Assist with developing training compliance reports.
  • Identifies and corrects improper operating procedures.
  • Reviews SOP with supervisor and recommends changes if necessary.

Working Conditions

  • Underground and surface mining environments.

Selection Criteria

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in an administrative role.
  • Minimum 5-10 years experience in a mining environment as a safety trainer.
  • Clear understanding of SOP for all mine equipment.
  • Ability to evaluate pit problems and operating situations and apply a safe and efficient solution.
  • Administrative capability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills.
  • The capability to work positively with a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creative and energetic environment is critical.
