Mine Maintenance Manager

Our Client is a global leader in the mining industry. The firm employs over 5,000 professionals and has an unsurpassed reputation in the industry for excellence in mining exploration, mine planning, operations and mine maintenance.

An opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced senior level Mining Maintenance Manager to lead one of their key divisions in Northern Ontario. The role is a key strategic management position within their Mining Operations division and would be responsible for up to 75 indirect reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the work of the Maintenance Department with the Production Department to ensure the efficient performance of all company activities
  • Direct, coordinate and integrate all technical aspects of operational and shutdown maintenance projects in accordance to mine requirements
  • Develops long range detailed plans, schedules and procedures for the systematic maintenance of all equipment
  • Maximize integrity of processes by maintaining and improving technical standards, specifications and quality assurance systems
  • Ensure all safety, health, environment and legal standards are met and maintained
  • Responsible for budgeting all maintenance costs and prepares capital and operating budgets
  • Reviews progress of work and compares the actual results with the planned results; initiates corrective action as required
  • Establishes shop layout to ensure that the most effective arrangement of maintenance facilities and equipment is obtained
  • Trains employees and installs work procedures to improve the efficiency of maintenance operations.
  • Studies and develops methods of maintenance and revises periodically the program for systematic maintenance to improve the quality of the maintenance and reduce the cost.
  • Remain up-to-date and abreast on industry activities and recommends the use of new techniques, methods and equipment to improve performance and reduce costs.
  • Advises Operations and Departmental Managers of the economical benefits to be achieved by the new techniques, machinery and equipment in accordance with the capital and operating budgets.
  • Plans and schedules maintenance work to minimize loss of production.
  • Reduces overall cost of maintenance and improves the quality of service.
  • Improves Department activities through innovative and creative design and implementation.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years experience in a similar role,
  • Degree in engineering
  • Professional Engineering status is asset
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships between Production Departments and Maintenance Department
  • Proven experience in Mine Maintenance Management
  • Excellent knowledge of Mine Safety, Health, Environmental and Legal Standards
  • Able to maintain good safety and employee relations record,
  • Strong Computer skills
  • Experience with ERP, Maintenance Programs
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills are essential
