Cost Controller - Perth Based

Cost Controller - Solomon Expansion Project Perth Based 18 months fixed term contract

The Cost Controller role is the part of the FMG Management team on our Solomon Expansion project. Reporting to the Project Services Manager this role is responsible for leading of major contractors to ensure that cost management, milestone reports, project progress and resources control standards are achieved safely and according to time and budget.

Key responsibilities:
  • Coordinate preliminary estimates for project, budgets, and schedules
  • Create and maintain financial controls including turnover & cost forecasts, produce and maintain project progress charts
  • Assess project requirements, cost forecasting and conduct cost audits
  • Ensure Contractors cost strategy for projects is reliable and achievable
  • Oversee cost control systems, project scheduling and manage cost audits
  • Interface with the team members and play a key role in managing cost programs on site
  • Provide expert assistance in creation and maintenance of project control plans, financial reporting and critical path analysis
  • Prepare effective critical path program, assist with costs deviations and claim evaluation
  • Recommends appropriate revisions and develop recovery plans
Skills required:
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in cost control and estimating for large multi-disciplinary projects
  • Good experience using Primavera 6 and MS Products
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in a schedule/cost project environment within the construction/mining industry
  • Be able to perform under pressure
  • Motivate, coach and train
