Safety Advisor / Emergency Response Officer

Our client is a global diversified mining group.  They are seeking the services of a Safety Advisor/Emergency Response Officer for one of their WA Projects, on an 8/6 roster FIFO Perth.

Reporting to the Safety and Environmental Superintendent, the Safety Officer/ERO is responsible for ensuring the organisation provides a high level of occupational health care and safety for its employees.  Through the delivery of high quality first aid treatment and care in addition to training employees in regards to OHS.

The key accountabilities include:

• Ensuring the health and safety of all staff involved in mining operations in compliance with company standards;
• Overseeing all occupational safety & health matters;
• Developing and reviewing of site safety, training and emergency response systems and procedures including the emergency response team;
• OHS auditing;
• Liaising with management to identify training needs, arranging and co-ordinating training courses;
• Timely reporting of OHS data, both statutory and in-house;
• Site first aid officer including on call situations;
• Preparation and delivery of health and safety information to employees via toolbox meetings and scheduled training;
• Membership of the site Safety Committee

Skills/Qualifications:

• Manual WA C Class drivers licence;
• Desired: Cert IV OHS and Workplace Trainer recognised qualifications;
• Recognised qualifications in emergency response including, open/closed circuit BA, rope rescue, HAZMAT, industrial fire fighting, vehicle extraction;
• At least 3 years experience on a mine site in safety/emergency response/first aid officer/training role;
• Industrial Paramedic/Advanced pre-hospital care qualification or equivalent;
• Strong communication - including the ability to conduct presentations;
• Competent computer skills (microsoft office)
