Assistant Civil Engineer

My client requires the service of a dynamic person for the position of a Assistant Civil Engineer based in Steelpoort.

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant NQF 6 qualification

Experience

  • 2 years relevant work-related skill, knowledge or experience
  • Sound knowledge of all relevant legislation

Job Specification

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Ensure all activities are SD compliant
  • Drafting detailed dimensional drawings and designing layout for projects and to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Calculating dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications, and material quantities using a calculator or computer
  • Reading and reviewing project blueprint and structural specifications to determine dimensions of structure or system and material requirements
  • Conferring with supervisors to determine project details such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions
  • Inspecting project site and evaluating contractor work to detect malfunctions and ensuring conformance to design specifications and applicable codes
  • Developing plans and estimating costs for installations of systems, utilization of facilities, or construction of structures
  • Preparing reports and document project activities and data
  • Responding to public suggestions and complaints
  • Reporting maintenance problems occurring at project site to supervisor and negotiate changes to resolve system conflicts
  • Evaluating to determine suitability for occupancy and square footage availability
