On behalf of a globally-respected Consultancy organisation, I am currently looking to Recruit an experience Consultant Civil Engineer. The right person for this role will be a Chartered (or close to Chartered) Civil Engineer and will ideally have experience within the mining sector. Experience working with dams would be absolutely ideal, however this is not essential so applicants without Dam experience are warmly welcomed to apply for the role.
The Mining Department contributes to projects in a variety of ways. Involvement can be long or short-term, based in the Cardiff office or at client offices, project sites or field camps, and sometimes in overseas client offices.
The work undertaken by the Mining team includes but is not limited to:
• Financial & technical appraisals of both green field and existing mining operations
• Feasibility studies (including Conceptual & Bankable)
• Due Diligence
• Mine and Excavation design
• Materials handling design
• Operational assistance and improvements
Essential Requirements of the Civil Engineer role include:
• Minimum of honours degree in a Civil Engineering;
• A postgraduate qualification in Civil / Geotechnical Engineering;
• Experience gained within heavy civil engineering (infrastructure) and geotechnical projects with exposure to design & construction of major hydraulic structures (ie, dams and reservoirs);
• Excellent communication skills;
• Excellent report & proposal writing skills,
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
Desirable Requirements:
• Chartered Engineer or approaching Chartered Status (or equivalent PE / PEng) with a recognised professional body;
• Experience managing geotechnical issues regarding major construction projects;
• Experience with geotechnical exploration;
• Overseas experience;
• Fluency in at least one foreign language
• Experience in working outside the UK;
• MS office, MS Project, GIS & AutoCAD Software experience
This position involves working in multi-disciplinary teams on a range of projects in the UK and overseas and international travel will form a significant part of the role.
My client is happy to consider a candidate who will relocate to the South Wales area. In certain circumstances, my client will assist with reasonable relocation/removal expenses for transport of personal possessions to South Wales if required. My client may also cover costs of rented accommodation for up to two weeks on arrival if the applicant requests this assistance.
