With 2010 revenues of nearly $10 billion, [Company] workforce includes approximately 10,000 salaried and hourly staff along with more than 15,900 craft workers.  [Company] Power Constructors, Co.  is a subsidiary of [Company] Corporation. Based in Kansas City, Kansas, we specialize in large, integrated industrial, mechanical and electrical projects and construct major power and mechanical process facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Project document control duties under the direction of the Project Engineer. Responsible for managing the project document flow and distribution at the job site. Use Prolog, Word, Excel and other word processing and data base programs to manage Project Documents.

Essential Functions:

  • Use effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers rapidly and accurately.
  • Read and understand company policies and procedures and other literature and documents applicable to assigned tasks; plan and execute the assigned work in accordance with those policies and procedures.
  • Examine/inspect office conditions and/or procedures and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective action when directed.
  • If applicable, inspect subordinate's work for accuracy and compliance with the company's policies and procedures, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
  • Listen to directions and suggestions from supervisors or other employees regarding safe and proper work practices, evaluate that information and devise and implement a plan based on that evaluation for carrying out the duties of this position.
  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing approximately 20 pounds.
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift.
  • Identify workplace safety hazards and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize them.
  • Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (back-up alarms, smell of smoke, different colored warning tags, warning sirens).
  • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of company policies, procedures and industry standards.
  • Operate all office machines, including, but not limited to, telephone, copy machine, facsimile machine, typewriter, computer and calculator.
  • Understand and comply with Document Control Policies and verification checklists.

Understand document types; including but not limited to:

  • Drawings
  • Specifications
  • Equipment lists
  • Bills of Material
  • Legends
  • Design change notices
  • Requests for information
  • Letters, memos, transmittals, faxes
  • Client and Joint Venture contract
  • Manufacturer’s literature
  • TICs Quality Manual and forms
  • Prioritize work independently.
  • Have working knowledge of internal audit procedures for document control.
  • Organize all pertinent Project documentation for turnover at completion of work.
  • As required assemble client turnover package per client requirements. Assist in maintaining punch list documents, work remaining lists and exceptions to turnover packages.
  • Maintain electronic file organization.
  • Other duties as required.
  • The job will be located in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada and the candidate will be required to secure a Canadian work permit.

Qualifications

  • Records Management Certificate or related experience.
  • Knowledge of records/information management principles and their methodologies an asset.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively work within a project team with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel and spreadsheet work.
