Maint Mech II - ESC CO

Job Description:

• Under the immediate direction of the Maintenance Lead, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of plant equipment related components.

Essential Functions

• Repairs and maintains plant equipment.
• Understands and adheres to MSHA and Company safety policies and requirements.
• Operates machinery and other equipment as safe and efficient as prescribed by the manufacturer.
• Performs preventative maintenance schedules and follows maintenance procedures.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
• Operates heavy equipment (example: operates foot pedals and hand levers).

Minimum Education and Experience

• Prefer electrical experience, but is not required.
• Prefer minimum 2 years of experience in the aggregate industry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of the proper use of a variety of hand tools (shovels, hammers, wrenches, etc…)
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a team environment with an appreciation for production goals.
• Ability to work weekends and be on call as required for call outs during unscheduled hours.
• Ability to work extended hours as required
• Ability to supply personal tools up to 1-1/2” wrenches and sockets and other support tools as required.
• Work requires good mathematical and mechanical aptitudes.
• Proven and demonstrated mechanical and maintenance skills (welding and cutting) required.
• Work requires good communication skills.
• Must be a self-starter to perform essential job functions.

Physical Requirements

• Work requires the sufficient vision to operate machinery safely.
• Work requires the ability to read and understand indicator gauges and dials.
• Ability to pass physical examination and drug/Alcohol test.
• Ability to perform necessary duties using basic hand tools, grease guns, etc…
• Ability to lift 100 pounds safely.
• Read gauge and dials and make competent decisions regarding processing factors
• Climb stairs and ladders to heights of 100 feet
• Bend, stoop, climb, crawl, and reach as required to perform, maintenance, housekeeping and other duties,
• Wear safety PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed boots, hearing, dust protection, etc…)
• Ability to work in high or closed spaces for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions

• Will work in varied environments including indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions heat, cold, wet, humid, dry and/or dusty conditions.  Exposure to noise levels that will require the use of hearing protection. Exposure to various aggregates and chemicals.  See MSDS for more details.
