Job Description:
- Accurately and promptly diagnose specific problems on mobile equipment.
- Make needed repairs in the safest and most efficient manner possible.
- Understand and follow all MSHA, [Company] and Plant safety policies and standards.
- Cut, weld and fabricate as needed.
- Assist Sr. Mechanic, Sr. Team Coordinator or Production Supervisor in scheduling repairs and maintaining a preventive maintenance program.
- Safely operate all mobile equipment.
- Complete daily safety and maintenance reports accurately.
- Maintain housekeeping standards on assigned equipment, work areas and in and around maintenance shop.
- Assist in other areas of the plant as needed
Minimum education qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalency preferred.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required
- 3 years’ experience in mobile equipment maintenance.
- Cutting, welding and fabrication skills are required.
- Ability and skills to diagnose and repair mobile equipment including diesel/gasoline engines, transmissions, brakes, and heating and air conditioning systems.
- Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in the English language.
- Must be able to work irregular shifts and work days/nights and weekends as required.
- Furnish hand tools to perform work.
- Must be able to read and understand operator, parts and repair manuals.
- Must be Able to read and understand electrical systems and schematics.
- Must be Able to read and understand hydraulic systems and schematics.
- Must have a current valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Physical requirements
- Ability to perform duties in a safe manner. This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and hearing protection.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. from ground to waist level and carry as far as 30 ft.
- Ability to climb a series of steps, ladders, or catwalks to heights of 200 ft. and perform duties at that height.
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb and reach around all areas of equipment.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to use small and large hand tools such as shovels, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
- Ability to operate radio, CB radio, computer and other equipment as required.
- Ability to walk across steep/rough terrain.
- Working conditions
- Will work in varied outdoor environments (in all weather conditions heat, cold, wet, humid, dry and/or dusty conditions).
- Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs.
- Exposure to cement, clay, limestone, shale, and other raw materials and various chemicals, solvents and lubricants.
