EHS Specialist

Position Summary:  

  • Responsible for supporting corporate, regional and plant Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs.
  • Coordination of EHS audit programs through assisting of scheduling, analysis of trends and common findings, and tracking of corrective actions.
  • Administer systems used to collect, report, and manage EHS related incidents and accidents.
  • Collect and compile EHS metric data and support the analysis and reporting by various business entities.
  • Provide technical assistance with the development of corporate EHS standards and procedures.
  • Support the preparation of regulatory compliance filings, and permit applications related to EHS matters.
  • Provide technical assistance on companywide EHS projects and analysis.
  • Provide technical support as required for plant EHS organizations.
  • Provide analysis of EHS regulations and make evaluations regarding their impact to the company.

Job Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit and look at Video Display Terminal for long periods of time.
  • Must have physical dexterity in using computer keyboard. Candidate must be self-sufficient and able to operate independently.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in either engineering, environmental science or other related discipline.
  • Some experience or equivalent education with EHS programs, preferably associated with power plant operations.
  • General knowledge of EHS laws and regulations preferably associated with power generation facilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, basic understanding of math, physics and mechanics.
  • Ability to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations.
  • A valid Texas driver’s license. 
  • Ability to travel overnight required.
