Job Summary
- Under the general direction of the Regional Director-Human Resources - NTX the Sr. Human Resources Representative - CA will provide H.R. consulting services to both employees and management in an assigned territory.
Essential Functions
- Facilitate the development and maintenance of effective human resources programs and practices, and provide administration services of all functional areas of Human Resources Management.
- Partner and consult with Plant Managers to develop work environments that effect culture change, and produce working conditions to maximize use of human potential resulting in maximum productivity, profitability and job satisfaction.
- Provide consulting and counseling services to employees and management for all functional areas of Human Resources including, but not limited to, Government Compliance Programs, Employment Practices, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Safety, Workers’ Compensation, Company Policy Compliance, Organizational Development, Legal Defense Issues, Wage & Salary Administration, Benefits Administration, Employee Development and Training, etc.
- Coordinate the development of HR Business Plans with designated assigned Plant Managers that address issues of organization, safety, training, community relations and compensation programs.
- Act as a resource for employee relations and labor relations questions.
- Coordinate with Administrators and Plant Managers to ensure a complete understanding of HR procedures and practices.
- Administer and monitor salary planning and approved salary administration plans.
- Coordinate with Regional H.R. Director, the formulation and/or modification of Human Resource policies.
- Coordinate with Safety Manager to insure compliance with all Federal, State and Local programs, as well as, the company & business unit programs.
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of best H.R. Practices.
- Provide direction and subject matter expertise to project teams related to areas of assigned responsibilities.
- Provide administrative services as necessary to insure all above duties and functions are performed successfully.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in business related discipline.
- 5 - 7 years of HR Department experience, including some labor relations.
- SPHR or PHR Preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of employment and benefits programs, procedures and administration.
- General knowledge of payroll procedures and administration.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products and knowledge in HR/Payroll systems.
- Good working knowledge of state and federal legislation relating to employment, such as DOL, DOT, ADA, INA, EEOC, TWC, etc., and related knowledge of Workers’ Compensation, Safety, and unemployment regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bi-Lingual (English – Spanish) skill preferred.
- Must be able to work efficiently with managers and employees at all levels of the organization.
- Work requires the ability to be self-directed and accountable for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Work requires the ability to work with minimal supervision, work autonomously and independently.
- Work requires the willingness and ability to travel within North Texas Region.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to drive automobile up to 3-4 hours per day.
- Manual dexterity and visual ability to operate P.C.
- Ability to walk over uneven terrain of outside plant locations.
- Ability to climb ladders and steps up to approximately 50 feet high and work at that height.
- Able to lift projection equipment and other objects of approximately 5 pounds and carry for distances up to approximately 50 feet.
- Stoop, bend, and squat in order to perform safety inspection functions and utilize files.
- Verbal ability to talk with Managers and Employees on a regular basis.
Working Conditions
- Most time is spent in an air conditioned office environment with occasional outside assignments that may require short periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry. May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc.
