Construction Project Manager

Job Description:

• Manage a major design-build power plant expansion project by working with internal and teams such as development, engineering, legal, environmental, supply chain and operations.
• Develop overall project scope book used to bid the EPC portions of the project, other major equipment bid packages to support the bidding process and project schedule.
• Manage a cross functional project team in both an office and site environment to implement the project.
• Manage all engineering and construction activities.
• Track progress of the Engineer and the Contractor to insure schedule activities are being completed on time.  Takes required action if activities are falling behind schedule.
• Insures the project is being constructed in compliance with design standards and applicable codes and quality standards established for the project.
• Insures that comprehensive safety standards are implemented and enforced.
• Prepares and submits daily, and weekly and monthly progress reports to the internal stakeholders.  Reviews and approves invoices from the Engineer, Contractor and equipment suppliers.
• Reviews and evaluates all change order requests from the Engineer, Contractor and equipment suppliers.
• Facilitates monthly project meeting with the Bank, Engineer and Contractor representatives.
• Maintains daily communication with the Construction Management Group on the progress of the work and any problems that would affect the Project.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Construction Services.

Job Requirements:

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
• Good problem solving and analytical ability.
• Applicant should have an extensive knowledge of heavy industrial construction techniques.  A working understanding of major procurement and construction contracting, cost accounting, budgeting and contract industry is desired, with a minimum of 5 years working as a project manager on power plant projects.
• Ability to manage large complex construction projects.
• Ability to resolve disputes.
• Good verbal, writing management and team building skills.
• A Bachelor of Science degree in ME, EE, CE or Construction Management is preferred
