Electrical Engineering Services Intern

Job Description:

  • Provide support for small and large capital projects for existing power plants, and for new plants under development or construction.  This includes electrical engineering support for 76 gas fired combined cycle and peaking gas turbine plants.   Work in a small group of [Company] electrical engineers that support these plants and projects performing daily duties typical for the power generation business.  Work with outside A/E firms contracted by [Company] to provide engineering services for the maintenance, design, and configuration management of existing and new power plants.  Work alongside senior power system protection engineers.  Learn how to specify microprocessor relays, design of protection schemes, and calculations of protection system settings and investigation of relay operations for system faults. 
  • Excellent exposure to all facets of the power generation business.

Job Requirements:

  • Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • 3.0 GPA in a 2 or more years engineering program at an accredited institution.
  • Completion of at least 30 credits towards graduation
  • A good comprehension of basic engineering practices through work experience or college courses
  • Must have strong computer skills especially in the use of spreadsheet and word processing programs
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Must be flexible and able to work harmoniously with others
  • Good problem solving and analytical ability
  • Good organization skills and attention to details are essential
