Instrumentation & Controls Engineer - St-Laurent

Specific Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate engineering activities related to instrumentation of large industrial processes.
  • Participating as a subject matter expert on technical issues relating to this area of expertise.
  • Plan and coordinate engineering activities related to this area of expertise.
  • Participate in the elaboration of the list and schedule of technical deliverables for the complete project.
  • Participate in the preparation of RFQ's and bid evaluations & analysis; installation supervision and commissioning in remote sites.
  • Control and manage engineering changes during project execution; Write technical specifications.
  • Technical follow-up during engineering, procurement & construction.
  • Identify technical risks and their impact on the project & mitigate their effects.
  • Prepares specifications and estimates costs.
  • Perform the technical leadership role for ABB DCS projects.
  • Act as the technical liaison between the customer, the EPC's and the ABB engineering team.
  • Develop the project standards in conjunction with the customer for use by the engineering team.
  • Provide overall technical responsibility for all aspects of the DCS system including cabinet equipment layout, network architecture and application configuration (I/O assignment, control loop development, operator console displays, alarming, reports, etc.).
  • Support sales and marketing in customer focused initiatives when required.

Specific Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering;
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience in electrical studies;
  • Member of a Canadian Professional Engineer Association
  • Knowledge of the electrical standards (ANSI, CSA, IEC, ATEX and others);
  • Strong working knowledge of process control applications and instrumentation
  • Availability to travel within Canada and abroad;
  • Knowledge of open-pit mining is an asset.
