Senior Application Electrical Engineer

Senior Application Electrical Engineer - St-Laurent
Specific Responsibilities
- Performing electrical system studies including short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash analysis on LV & MV voltage electrical distribution systems utilizing software.
- Participating as a subject matter expert on technical issues relating to this area of expertise
- Plan and coordinate engineering activities related to this area of expertise.
- Participate in the elaboration of the list and schedule of technical deliverables for the complete project
- Participate in the preparation of RFQ's and bid evaluations & analysis; installation supervision and commissioning in remote sites
- Control and manage engineering changes during project execution; Write technical specifications.
- Technical follow-up during engineering, procurement & construction. Supporting field crews on grounding configurations, troubleshooting problems, etc
- Identify technical risks and their impact on the project & mitigate their effects.
- Prepares specifications and estimates costs.
Overall Planning and Coordination of all the technical aspects of a project with the Client, internal engineering as well as suppliers of equipment & services.
Provide the pertinent data to, and interface with, the other project team members in the office (local as well as remote locations) and on site.
The lead project engineer's responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:
- Engineering Plan / RACI responsibility matrix
- List / Schedule of technical deliverables
- List of Inputs & Outputs / Interfaces
- Design reviews
- Preparation of RFQs
- Bid evaluations & analysis
- Technical follow-up during engineering, procurement & construction
- Progress meetings (Internal, with Customer and with Sub-suppliers)
- Quality planning, monitoring and follow-up during engineering, procurement & construction
- Manage Non conformity reports
- Monitor project performance related to the above
- Control and manage change related to the above during project execution
- Identify technical related risks and their impact on the project & mitigate their effects
- Interface with other project team members (PM, Finance, Scheduling, Documentation, EH&S, Construction etc.)
Specific Qualifications

- Strong written and oral communication skills.

- Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 7 - 10 years experience as project engineer in large electrical system projects
- Good knowledge of related products
- Knowledge of computer tools required to accomplish his tasks
- Member of a Canadian Professional Engineer Association
- Knowledge of the electrical standards (ANSI, CSA, IEC, ATEX and others);
- Availability to travel within Canada and abroad;
- Knowledge of open-pit mining (crushers and conveyors - dry area) is an asset.
