Field Service Technician Mining

Primary Duty

Responsible for domestic and International job site installation, maintenance, repair, and in some cases, rebuild of new/old equipment manufactured and/or sold by client affiliates and its agents.  Will in addition assist, and in some cases supervise, work crews constructing sold Equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment for proper erection and installation using manuals/drawings as guides.  Provide engineering with feedback and/or recommendations as to current problems noted.
• Utilize digital cameras (if plant accepted) to convey and communicate findings. Operate equipment to assure proper function and field test for fit and operational values.
• Note discrepancies and coordinate corrective action through Project Managers, Sales & Engineers. Provide maintenance instruction on new and used equipment to operating and maintenance personnel at job site.
• Replace worn parts on all equipment and direct and/or perform warranty repair or correction of fabricated errors in the field with project manager input and direction.
• Make corrective recommendations on equipment failures and/or personally repair equipment as needed with project manager approval. Inspect equipment and recommend parts, repair or replacement, oversee field refurbishment of equipment under warrantable conditions.
• Provide written documentation of all activities including all measurements that define inspection and tests.
• Note and correct any deviations and ensure that specifications are met as required.
• Supervise and assist Contractors with installing, erecting, repairing, and/or rebuilding equipment.
• Performs general training and gives technical assistance to customers.

Education And Experience Requirements

• Three plus years experience/background in installation, repair, or modification of large capital equipment;
• Degree in mechanical engineering and underground mining systems, a plus.
• Working knowledge in the following areas: machining, welding; fabrication, electrical and electronic instrumentation and control; painting and rubber coating.
• Ability to use mechanical and electrical measuring devices.
• Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and make correct decisions on repair or modification procedure with little assistance.
• Read and interpret mechanical, electrical and structural drawings.
• Computer experience using company standard software and be proficient in use of a calculator.  Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (P.L.C.) programming is desirable.
• Understand electrical and hydraulic power schematics. Ability to use computer software to make illustrated reports.
• Work hand in hand with engineering and project management to resolve onsite issues
• Must have extensive experience working with process equipment: sedimentation, pressure and vacuum filters, flotation equipment, aerators, control panels and pumps
