Senior Mine Hydrogeologist

An opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Senior Mine Hydrogeologist to play a key role in one of their major mining operations in the Northwest Territories. If you are an experienced hydrogeologist with extensive experience providing geologic services to multi-disciplinary mining project teams, then this is the career progression opportunity that you have been waiting for.

Summary:

This role operates with a two (2) weeks in / two (2) weeks out rotation.

Responsibilities include:

Develop knowledge of the local structure and hydrogeology, both of the Mine and the surrounding environment, and the impact of local hydro-geological conditions on mining operations and surrounding lakes;

  • Collect hydro-geologic information related to mine excavations and surrounding lakes;
  • Ensure that all relevant hydro-geological information is recovered in a timely manner and to the required standard;
  • Coordinate and supervise hydro-geological data collection (water flows, water intersections, water chemistry, TDS etc) and interpretation to comply with the requirements of the Snap lake Mine water licence;
  • Develop and implement procedures to reduce mine water inflow (grouting procedures etc.);
  • Control and assure quality of mine water discharge into Snap Lake and surrounding lakes;
  • Record, compile and maintain all data in digital and hardcopy formats; and
  • Build and maintain the hydro-geological model of the Snap Lake Mine.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Hydrogeology from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 5 years experience within a high producing mine environment.
  • Advanced training in structural mapping and hydrogeological modeling preferred.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and Gemcom required.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Previous experience in an underground mining environment an asset.
