Principal Civil Engineer

This is a Senior Role. We need a leader! Someone to coordinate the design team and effectively delivery the design function of the company   You have been designing /drafting on civil projects for years and now feel that you have management capability; it's your time to shine! 

Our client is a mid-sized engineering consultancy located in Melbourne's inner east. They specialise in providing expert consulting engineering advice and services to clients relating predominantly with urban and land development projects. 

With over 40 staff of engineers and surveyors and a work portfolio rapidly growing as a result of a great reputation in the industry they need to free up their senior management end and have a proven design manager work with and lead their group of expert civil designers. 

Reporting to the director you will be responsible for running a design office comprising of approximately 15 design staff and a small team of drafters.   You will have the ability to run work schedules, delegate tasks, ensure that design projects and are met on time and on budget. Works relate to the preparation of detail design drawings for the construction of infrastructure services (roads, drains, water services, sewer mains) on residential and industrial subdivisions. It will be necessary for you to have an expert handle of the working use of AutoCAD, 12D and Microstation. 

You will have had at least 10 years experience (local preferable) in design and drafting on similar projects and survey knowledge would also be advantageous also. You will possess excellent communication skills and have an eye for detail and leadership. Experience in WSUD would be a distinct advantage. Someone with prior experience and connections within the water authority and retailer market will be highly regarded.
