Resource Geologist

Responsible for the reviewing, analyzing and preparing of resource statements that comply with the requirements of the major stock exchanges for work in one commodity or more. Additionally, responsible for resource modeling and maintenance of models, maintaining geological data and databases. Must be an expert user of the various modelling software.

Minimum Requirements

  • Post Graduate Degree in Geology
  • 10+ years multi-commodity geological experience
  • Resource evaluation and methodologies
  • Consulting experience

Job Specification

  • 10+ years multi-commodity geological experience and resource modelling experience.
  • Excellent technical knowledge and skills and up to date familiarity with technical and other trends within the industry. 
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish strong relationships with staff, clients, and other industry players. 
  • Good leadership skills to direct and motivate staff, usually by example and through possession of knowledge. 
  • Ability to accept responsibility and to delegate. 
  • Speaking, presentation and negotiating skills. 
  • Good organisational and time management skills. 
  • Good working knowledge of pertinent legislation and practice: Mineral laws -Labour laws -SAMREC and other reporting codes 
  • Good understanding of principals of marketing. 
  • Basic understanding of finance; accounting, cash flow, interest rates, economic cycles, costing, etc. 
  • Understanding of administrative practices as they apply to exploration evaluation and mining projects. 
  • Project management.
