Sr. EHS Specialist

Position Description

• Provide oversight and coordination of Safety, Quality, Environmental activities at the terminal
• Manage retain sample storage/disposal
• Perform monthly calibration of combustible gas/PID meters
• Issue work permits
• Conduct/assist with terminal JHA's
• Manage waste generation and disposal including the scheduling of all shipments. Perform routine inspections of Waste storage area
• Manage inventory of all Safety/first aid/spill supplies and restock as necessary.
• Provide oversight of all safety equipment inspections (fire ext., safety showers, respirators, SCBAs) and daily terminal inspections (daily dike, security, etc). Conduct periodic spot checks to ensure compliance. Review completed documentation and provide feedback to appropriate Manager if documentation is not complete.
• Conduct annual SPCC inspection
• Review and update EHS Site Specific Procedures
• Provide oversight for terminal work permit process. Conduct periodic monitoring of job sites to ensure permit compliance (permits, contractor work areas)
• Maintain terminal Storage tank NFPA labels
• Scheduling of monthly storm water discharge sampling & report preparation
• Data compilation/review for numerous reports (SARA, Haz Waste, Residual Waste)
• Review and update Federal , State and Local Response plans
• Participate in terminal incident investigations. Serve as investigation coordinator. Review applicable video surveillance to assist in investigation
• Be trained and function as an alternate Facility Security Officer
• Oversee and Conduct periodic faculty security inspections. (TWIC compliance, perimeter fencing)
• Maintain training records for EHS topics and coordinate with other departments to ensure required training is completed.
• Serve as back-up for Terminal EHS Manager
• Maintain near miss/variance logs and track corrective actions
• Enter and manage STARS incident reports

Position Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience;
• 2 - 5 years of experience in progressively responsible industrial EHS management position;
• Experience in a pipeline, chemical, or refinery operation preferred;
• Knowledge of environmental standards and compliance preferred
• Experience in Emergency Response, OSHA compliance, Haz-Mat;
• Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations; ;
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet Search Engines
