Drafting Technician

[Company] is seeking a qualified Drafting Technician for its LaPlace, LA location.

The position of Drafting Technician will be responsible for providing shop drawings, take offs, design assistance and technical expertise to our precast concrete customers. This role will work closely with the sales team, engineers and customers to develop a complete solution to our customer’s needs.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Design projects using quantity take offs and drawings for our Precast Concrete business unit. The product lines offered in this unit are manholes, storm drains, sanitary structures, bridges, vaults and related concrete structures.
• Must be able to interpret engineering layouts and project plans and apply this information to create individual shop drawings.
• Assist with problem resolution.
• Manage a large commercial based product list.
• Provide technical expertise and support to customers with their need for precast or reinforced concrete.
• Arrange for external engineers when necessary.
• Comply with and enforce all [Company] standard policies and procedures.
• Other duties as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associates Degree or equivalent
• Expertise with AutoCAD and spreadsheet software
• Ability to handle multiple projects
• Ability to work in a deadline driven environment
• Excellent organizational skills
• Focus on good customer service
• Ability to self-direct work
• 3+ years’ experience in a related role
