Geophysical Intern

Job Description:

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong geology and geophysics background (MS or MS candidate preferred) and a defined interest in geothermal energy. Responsibilities will include assistance in Calpine’s transition to 3D geological/geophysical model building and visualization; including data loading, quality control and organization. The position will also allow the opportunity for guided literature research and assistance with field activities. The selected candidate will benefit from exposure to the operations of a well-established geothermal energy provider and familiarization with 3D model building and visualization software.  Previous experience with 3D software, a strong structural geology background and mapping skills (including field mapping) are preferred but not required.

Job Requirements:

  • Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • 3.0 GPA or higher in a 4 year accredited earth sciences degree program such as geology or geophysics.
  • Completion of at least 30 credits towards graduation
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Must be flexible and able to work harmoniously with others
  • Good problem solving and analytical ability
  • Good organization skills and attention to details are essential
