Maintenance Operator

Job Summary:

• Under general direction, insures the proper operation of  all power plant equipment, to maintain continuity of service, consistent with safe, environmentally and economical practices.
• Under limited supervision regularly and customarily performs and/or assists in the performance of any work required for the maintenance and operation of the Hay Road equipment.
• Works alone or with others as part of a team as directed.
• May be required to direct the work of others of similar or lesser classification.
• Observes and records data; and maintains operational reporting logs and performs other necessary clerical work incidental to the job.
• May be required to assist in the performance of maintenance duties in the Power Stations as directed.  This does not preclude this classification from working alone.
• In addition to the above, may be assigned to perform any related work of equal or lesser skill.
• Will be assigned outside or inside duties.  Will work shift work, scheduled work, overtime or irregular hours as may be necessary or requested to maintain continuity of service of the Station or System.
• Cooperates fully with all organization personnel.
• Relays to his relief pertinent information which concerns equipment and conditions which affect plant operation or security.
• Must be knowledgeable of and act upon emergency procedures during non-routine situations to maintain personnel safety and continuity of service.

Job Requirements:

• High school or equivalent.
• Must have at least two (2) years' experience in power plant maintenance or operations, combustion turbine maintenance or the equivalent, such as prior job experience or military training.
• Must hold at least a 3rd Class Wilmington Stationary Engineer’s License.
• Employee must be able to pass qualification test prior to Company awarding job.
• Must have or be able to obtain Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) as described by the U.S. Coast Guard, Homeland Security Agencies.
• Must be able to walk, stand, reach, stoop, perform heavy lifting, and climb tanks, stacks.
• Possess good hearing, no color blindness and must not be claustrophobic.
• Must be able to properly wear respirator.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
