Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description:

• [Company] is the leading producer of batteries and energetic devices for the defense, space and commercial industries, and provides the most experience and broadest capability in battery electrochemistry of any battery supplier in the United States. [Company] is seeking an energetic, performance-driven candidate for a Manufacturing Engineering role in Joplin, Missouri. This individual will perform the role of Manufacturing and Equipment Engineer and will sustain and improve processes for multiple Operations areas (Range Line & Product Development). The individual will oversee the implementation of processes, equipment, and facilities during startup and ongoing manufacturing and will utilize require tools such as IQ, OQ and PQ validation processes. Role will also be a participant and lead with lean/six sigma projects.

Ongoing responsibilities include:

• Engage in process improvement with the ability to apply the right level of change (simple to complex) for a given scenario
• Solve process problems by obtaining data and performing analysis to identify cause and effect, and evaluate a range of alternatives
• Interface closely with Project Engineering, Quality, and Operations to ensure product conformance and design for manufacturability
• Proactively seeking latest technology
• Must be comfortable working with and leading Lean/6 Sigma teams
• Overseeing all processes across the Rangeline facility and Product Development
• Develop detailed designs for tooling and fixtures
• Create documentation including control plans, FMEA’s, process flow charts, etc.
• Troubleshoot PLC software and controls hardware
• Participate in and contribute to design reviews for new products
• Assist in the purchase and validation of all capital equipment within the area
• Establish baseline metrics where needed and continually improve existing metrics

Position Requirements:

• BS in Engineering (ME, Industrial, Eng. Mgt., or Process preferred)
• Manufacturing floor experience preferred
• Experience in tooling design, tool and die maintenance, and welding (TIG, Laser, and Resistance) preferred
• Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and working to ISO 9000 preferred
• Must be able to apply systematic problem solving techniques
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, CAD & Solid Modeling)
• Experience in validation of equipment and processes (IQ, OQ & PQ) preferred)
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident required
