Principal Metallurgist - Mineral Sands

Based in the Murray Basin a short drive from Adelaide, this is an exciting and challenging role at a recently recommissioned mine. Reporting to the General Manager, your role will be to manage the Primary Concentrator Plant (PCP), ensuring the effective and safe processing of ore, from its arrival from the pit to its delivery to the rail terminal. 

The Role: 
You will be responsible for the entire processing domain of the recommissioned mine site: Staffing levels, equipment and operation, from execution through to production within agreed budget parameters. 
Working with an attitude of safety before schedule, you will coordinate the development of Safe Operating Procedures, ensuring the procedures gain acceptance from employees as well as management. You will have a firm belief in the Continuous Improvement ethos and will be involved in researching plant and personnel affectivity to ensure their optimisation in order to maximise efficiency. 
You will provide technical support when needed to Operations staff and will mentor those under your charge to assist the advancement of their professional development.
You will promote a culture of OH&S awareness by participating in safety initiatives and will ensure all those working within the PCP comply with company, state and federal regulations.
Lastly, you will ensure that all PCP operations are undertaken with due to care the environment and actively promote environmental responsibility and awareness amongst employees and contractors.

Are you ready for the challenge? 

You will need a tertiary qualification in Science (Mineral Processing) and 8+ years mineral processing experience. Additionally, you are required to have at least 3 years experience in a mineral sands environment, preferably in a supervisory role. Your communication and negotiation skills will be outstanding and you will be required to work closely with the Mining Manager, liaising on a daily basis with the Maintenance, Geology, Environmental and Marketing Teams to ensure the best possible outcomes for the company and its shareholders.
