Environmental Superintendent

One of the rapidly growing Australian mining and metals company is currently seeking an Environmental Superintendent/Senior Environmental Professional to join their team, operating two mines and developing numerous projects worldwide, the company is on its way to become a global diversified mining and metals company. 
  
Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Superintendent is responsible for the planning, permitting, implementation and coordination of environmental management and monitoring programs for the operation. You will supervise and mentor a team of environmental professionals and provide assistance to the Environmental Manager in managing a broad range of legal obligations and commitments.
 
As an experience Environmental Superintendent you will

• Assist with the development, implementation and review of the Environmental Management System.
• Provide technical advice and solutions to operations and/or corporate management to address environmental risks and emerging compliance issues.
• Assist with the development of goals and strategies for implementation and improvement of the site's Environmental Management Plans.
• Preparation of technical, statutory and Annual Environmental Reports.
• Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure they are kept well informed of site activities and to enable concerns and issues to be addressed quickly (government, industry, community, etc) and to ensure environmental aspects are integrated into all operational activities.
• Provide expert advice and recommendations on development and review of technical studies as required, (ie groundwater investigations, contaminated sites investigations).
• Assist with the development and implement strategies to ensure compliance with the conditions and commitments of environmental approvals and licences; demonstrate due diligence, and the pursuit of excellence in environmental management.

Experience and qualifications required:

• Postgraduate Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Management
• Experience in environmental management at an operating mine site.
• Extensive knowledge of Australian environmental legislation.
• Previous supervisory skills and the ability to coordinate day to day activities within the Environmental Department.
• Demonstrated experience in dealing with regulators (DEC, DMP etc).
• A sound knowledge of mine site rehabilitation strategies.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
• Ability to clearly understand statutory environmental obligations and ensure management at the site complies with these obligations.
