This global mining consultancy currently seeks an experienced Principal Ventilation Engineer to join their team in Melbourne.


Reporting to the Group Manager for Engineering Services, the successful candidate in this role will have:

  • A sound understanding of the application of advanced network analysis to ventilation systems, including thermodynamic aspects
  • A thorough technical understanding of gas drainage in underground mines
  • Experience in determining fan/system performance and specification of requirements in complex coal and metalliferous ventilation systems
  • A solid understanding of relevant computer software, particularly VentSim. Use of other software (such as VUMA) will be advantageous
  • The ideal candidate will also have a sound understanding of best mine ventilation practices, excellent report-writing abilities, and a high level of communication skill. A tertiary mining qualification (or relevant mine ventilation qualification) is also required, along with membership to (or eligibility for membership to) an industry-recognised professional organisation. Ten to fifteen years' experience in underground mine ventilation, refrigeration, or cooling is also required.
