Programmes Manager

Our client based in Musina seeks the services of Programmes Manager-Projects. Responsible for the development and management of policies, standards, guidelines and techniques including providing direction and overseeing the implementation of all planning and expediting the scheduling of all activities associated with capital projects at the company. Lead the Projects team & initiate change.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12/Std 10 certificate or relevant NQF level 4 qualifications.
• Degree in business related technical discipline and/or formal qualification with acknowledged qualification in Project Management
• 10 years’ experience with a track record of success in executing capital projects in a mining environment, 5 years of which should have been in a management role with responsibility of overseeing practitioners and relevant project personnel
• High level computer literacy, especially Microsoft Projects Office and graphical presentations
• Ability to work with project teams
• Code 08 /EB Driver’s License.

• Act as primary conduit between Project Managers and other stakeholders to constantly revise and communicate the context of projects to be delivered

• Analysing project delivery trends and implementing actions to ensure optimal process and performance standards and effectively apply knowledge management with regards to previous lessons learned

• Provide specialist technical knowledge, advice and corrective action to all levels of management on a wide range of Project standards in line with statutory requirements.

• Provide continuous specialist technical knowledge and advice by examining the appropriateness of existing systems against the possibility of improved efficiency and ensuring the implementation thereof

• Manage the provision of project services i.e. planning, expediting, quality control and financial services relating to projects
• Establish, implement and maintain approved medium and long term projects plans aligned to the company’s strategic business goals.

• Provide input relating to project time and cot assessments to the company's Project Portfolio aligned with the Business Plan to support effective portfolio management
• Ensure that the business project needs statements are clearly defined and translated into appropriate requirements statements to support effective scope management
• Supervise project Managers to ensure that appropriate capital project estimates are prepared to support the requirements of the project scope and project execution plan in accordance with the company's guidelines, standards and policies
• Ensure effective management and control of periodic project expenditure flow is applied by Project Managers
• Manage the working cost budget of the Project section and ensures value add and return on investment by Project Department.

Skills/ Competencies:

• Some operational experience in mining, process, mechanical, electrical or related discipline.
• In depth understanding and application of project management principles and approaches with focus on delivery and excellence.
• Strong results focus, credible, proven track record of high performance in delivering according to tight deadlines.
• Proven experience and understanding of Business Management, Planning Processes, contracts and risk management.
