Mid-Level Remediation Construction Engineer

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Approximately 70% office work and 30% field work as a part of our environmental team for oversight of remediation construction activities.
  • Will have project management responsibilities for environmental remediation and redevelopment projects/construction projects. 
  • Will work closely with the design engineers out of Colorado and the co-consultant.
  • Will attend and speak at public meetings.
  • Will interface with agencies, stakeholders and clients.  Will assist the Project Manager and team with ensuring effective client communication and relations.
  • Will work with project manager on technical assignments and management on specific elements of the project.
  • Prepares technical evaluations and recommendations.
  • Assists in planning of work, scope definition and coordinates development of cost and schedule.
  • Prepare and updates project schedules using scheduling software.  Assist Project Manager with cost and schedule control.
  • Point person for remediation contractors and directs junior staff overseeing construction activities.
  • Provide field inspection services to evaluate construction quality and compliance with design drawings and specifications.
  • Organize field work and assign tasks and provide guidance to staff specialists.
  • Contact vendors; research literature and regulatory requirements.
  • As member of a design team, or in support of more senior staff, prepare plans and specifications.
  • Prepare components of investigation and engineering reports including work summaries, data summaries, engineering calculations, summary tables, figures, engineering drawings and specifications, and report text.
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures, site safety standards, and permit requirements.

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related engineering degree.
  • EIT required, PE desired.
  • 5 - 8+ years of construction and construction engineering experience specific to heavy construction on environmental remediation systems.
  • Very effective verbal communication skills. 
  • Willingness and ability to speak at public meeting and interact with individuals with a variety of backgrounds.
  • Willingness and ability to interact with agencies, stakeholders and clients and develop effective teamwork relationships.
  • Engineering skills in review of drawings, specifications and reports.  Experience reviewing construction bid specifications and determine compliance with owner’s requirements.
  • Experience with cost estimating including project cost estimates/budgets and change orders.
  • Experience with shop drawing reviews, catalog cuts, quantity take-offs, and payment estimates.
  • Strong skills using Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated maturity in judgment, initiative and client relations.
  • Strong written communication skills; ability to prepare presentations, reports and proposals.
  • Demonstrated project task management and prioritization abilities.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
