Technical Specialist 3, Oracle DBA
Position Description/Criteria
- Installs, patches, upgrades, configures, tunes and maintains the Oracle 12i e-business suite and 10g and 11g databases. Collaborates with system and network administrators. Installs system enhancements and assists in hardware, software and data utilization analysis to ensure maximum efficiency and effective use. Participates in the design, implementation and testing of the disaster recover procedures. Provides DBA support for custom application development efforts.
- Provides level 2 support (24x7) for the production environment, which includes high-volume business critical applications.
- Write UNIX shell scripts. Clones 12i environments. Establishes and maintains Oracle RAC databases. Tunes the 12i application, the Oracle databases and PL/SQL code. Proactively identifies and corrects 12i performance problems and monitors space usage.
- Ensures the 12i system is appropriately secured and periodically audits the security of the 11i system.
- Documents DBA processes. Prepares documentation for new and modified systems, environments, hardware, software or databases.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years IT experience, to include: 4 years of Oracle database administration, 2 years of Oracle applications administration, 2 years of UNIX, 2 years PL/SQL coding, and 1 year of Oracle 12i applications administration.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and communicational skills.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle 11g database management systems and overall Oracle technical environment. Experience with Oracle 12i applications.
- Must be willing to work some weekends, nights, and holidays.
