Transportation Manager, Materials Development

Position Description/Criteria

  • Manage the synthetic gypsum and associated aggregate material transportation requirements to insure consistent supply to [Company] plant operations at the lowest cost. Develop new and innovative opportunities to improve the synthetic gypsum delivery program.
  • Manage the direct relationship with the transportation vendor base including barge, rail, truck and stevedoring services, as well as evaluate alternative transportation vendors for new and existing markets.
  • Manage the transportation resource scheduling plan to match power plant and USG operations requirements.
  • Develop best practices related to securing transportation services in support of the synthetic gypsum delivery program.
  • Develop and maintain a working understanding of state of the art barge, rail and truck programs for the synthetic gypsum and related aggregate materials business.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. A degree in logistics is preferred.
  • Five years’ experience in management of barge, rail and truck vendor relationships is preferred.
  • Prefer experience in negotiating, writing and securing approval for contracts with transportation vendors.
  • Proficient writing and verbal communications skills.
  • Familiarity with USG mainframe and Oracle systems programs. Skilled in utilization of the Microsoft Office and Outlook tools.
