Underground Mine Geologist

Function

  • The position will be responsible day-to-day activities management of the underground mine ore control activities, geologic interpretation, production infill drilling, and delivering production data & reports. Emphasis will be on ore grade control, minimizing of dilution, sorting of ore types and tracking ore stockpile quantities and quality. The incumbent will also be responsible for resource modeling and resource estimates and assist in short and long term mine planning. In addition, responsibilities include overseeing geotechnical data collection and assist in ground control design and procedures for underground mine development and production stopes. Ensuring a strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance is a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Geology, Geologic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in underground hard rock mining
  • Minimum of 2 years on site experience in narrow vein mining & back filling
  • Experience in underhand cut and fill stoping methods
  • Experience in geotechnical mapping, rock mechanics, ground control techniques, related analysis and design
  • Proficient in resource modeling & designing of UG mine development
  • Capable of utilizing latest computer & software technologies such as CAD software and mining programs such as Vulcan, Surpac, MineSite, Gemcom or Dataminec.
  • Supervisory experience with both technical and non technical personnel
