GIS technology is seen as business critical and a core competency. The technology is primarily used in relation to the G&G elements of the business for example, as a mapping tool, data integration tool and a data access tool. In the past year the use of GIS has now grown outside the mapping domain into taking advantage of the advanced spatial and statistical analysis that geographic information systems have to offer.
