Assembler

Responsibilities

  • Assemble Plate Heat Exchangers that meet customer and design specifications while minimizing scrap/rework costs.
  • Provide guidance on the line to temporary personnel.
  • Assist team members with their duties and other administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the department in support of team and divisional goals.
  • Monitor inventory levels and locations, and work with support staff to ensure the availability of inventory needed to produce goods on schedule and according to customer requirements.
  • Monitor methods, processes and procedures on a continual basis to ensure departmental goals are being met related to efficiencies, equipment utilization and time usage in order to maintain or improve cost competitiveness.
  • Provide quality in all goods and services delivered to internal and external customers through thorough planning, responsible implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Follow and continually monitor established safety procedures to assure a clean, safe work environment is promoted and maintained.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that interfaces well with customers, clients, co-workers and management members.
  • Take quantities of parts and subassemblies with drawings and put together heat exchangers to the configurations of the proper heat exchangers by part numbers that are called out in the bill of materials.
  • Match tolerances and pitches to those specified on drawings.
  • Work to and/or help create standard work procedure (SOP).

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to read and understand written and spoken English.
  • Ability to read and interpret process routings, bills of materials, and procedures.
  • Basic math skills, including percentages and the ability to count accurately.
  • Ability to operate pneumatic tools.
  • Safety-oriented.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Quality oriented, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, and alter hours as business needs dictate.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
Preferred:
  • Ability to demonstrate, lead, and instruct others in safe and effective working techniques

Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year prior assembly experience or equivalent.
  • Millwright experience or equivalent.

Job Summary

  • This position is accountable for the set-up, assembly and packaging of heat exchangers and related products to cost-effectively produce a high-quality product on a timely basis that meets customer requirements.
