Job Summary

  • The function of an assembler is to be able to perform any of the assembly processes beginning with core stacking and continuing through the final assembly operations.  An Assembler must be able to read and interpret design specifications and perform core stacking, coil landing, core clamping, core and coil wiring, final pack down adjustments, tanking, mechanical and electrical assembly and close up operations to produce a quality product for shipment.

Responsibilities

These operations include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work from drawings, specification, design prints and manufacturing practices.
  • Receive assignments and instructions from supervisor – both oral and written.
  • Read, understand, and follow guidelines set forth by manufacturing practices, and blueprints when performing assigned work.
  • Set up stacking tables, stacking fixtures, and assemble core laminations.
  • Land coils on stacked cores, prepare and install insulation, blocking, clamping and banding to conform to requirements.
  • Mix and apply bonding, sealing and/or insulating compounds where specified.
  • Crimp and braze magnet wire, cable and bus. 
  • Assemble and mount tap switches, gauges, meters, conduit, accessories and parts.
  • Wire controls and components per design specifications.
  • Maintain the required clearances and dimensions for the voltage classifications specified.
  • Use hand and air tools, brazing equipment, air crimpers, oil processing equipment, drill press, punch, band saw, cranes, hydraulic jacks, scales micrometer, square, etc.
  • Provide assistance to the supervisor in on-the-job training to other employees.

Qualifications

  • Candidates for this position must have a high school diploma.  An associate degree in math or a technical field is preferred with manufacturing experience.  Must be able to work at heights that are more than 6 feet.  Must be able to follow both oral and written directions while maintaining a high productivity level meeting set quality standards.  Must be able to work without direct constant supervision.
