Supervisor, Quality

Position Description

• Maintains plant laboratory operations including chemical and physical testing needs for raw material qualification, process control needs, finished product qualification and customer support needs.
• Provides in-house and on-site technical customer support in cooperation with sales, marketing and technical personnel.
• Meet customer needs by working with other [Company] departments to solve customer problems, analyze competitors’ and suppliers’ products and capabilities.  Coordinate, report and maintain records of process and product trials related to new and existing [Company] products.
• Provides technical support by working directly with customers on existing and new product opportunities and to resolve product application problems to support overall business growth.
• Identify, investigate and resolve problems, minimize loss, downtime, and inconsistency of products by evaluating sample test results, feedback from production and customers, and process control data.
• Responsible for the development and improvement of an ISO compliant quality system. 
• Evaluate opportunities for product quality improvement through ongoing interaction with customers and industry trade organizations to access and define needs and expectations.
• Continue to develop and apply technical knowledge and expertise to expand current testing capabilities by utilizing state of the art techniques to increase efficiency and control laboratory costs.
• Increase learning and improve motivation through participative management techniques including cross-training and skills development in support of a skill ladder based organization.
• Support environmental, safety and health initiatives through the site HS&S and HEPI plans in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
• May have other accountabilities.

Position Requirements

• Minimum of a 4-year technical degree with an emphasis in chemistry or polymer sciences.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience related to the mineral processing industry.
• Training in an applicable technical field or equivalent lab and plant experience.
• Comprehensive understanding of operations including the plant process, packaging, shipping, and customer service.
