Plant Human Resources Mgr.

Position Description

  • Provides Human Resource services and management for a Manufacturing Plant and Technology Center.
  • Ensures improvement in return on human capital assets utilizing the core systems of staffing, performance management and development, rewards and recognition, employee relations, work environment, and communications. 
  • Ensures compliance with municipal, state, and federal laws and regulations; and with Huber principles and Human Resource policies, practices, and procedures. 
  • Maintains non-union status.

Dimensions Of Job:

  • Plant Facility and Technology Center with a total of approximately 130 employees including exempt and non-exempt employees.

Position Requirements
Principal Accountabilities:

  • Ensures implementation of appropriate policies and procedures at the local level through the implementation of core HR processes.  May assist sector HR in the design of these processes.
  • Ensures that Human Resource compliance systems at the local level support the strategic business goals in the areas of: Employee Relations; Staffing; Rewards and Recognition; Performance Management and Development; and Work Environment.
  • Keeps sector HR Management aware of, and responds to the HR implications resulting from the Strategic and Operational Business Planning process by implementing corresponding HR Planning processes
  • Supports [Company] Strategic Human Resource Plan in the area of Employee Relations by assisting in the implementation of programs (such as the enterprise-wide Performance Improvement Process), and by coaching and correcting sub-standard performers in accordance with legally defensible positive discipline practices in the local area of responsibility.
  • Provides Wage and Benefit Administration to include PeopleSoft activities for all non-exempt personnel and exempt as required.
  • Recruits non-exempt employees (and exempt as required) to include sourcing by working with agencies and direct ads
  • Answers questions and counsels employees and retirees regarding medical insurance, dental, LTD, retirement and profit-sharing
  • Provides employee orientations for non-exempt employees and exempt employees.
  • Writes and evaluates non-exempt jobs, writes exempt jobs and facilitates, with sector HR the equitable grading of all exempt positions in area of responsibility.
  • Assist Sector HR with special projects such as wage surveys, development of sector policies and writing of handbook.
  • May assist in executing due diligence for strategic acquisitions and assist with the integration of appropriate Human Resource systems and processes.
  • Provides a network to effectively and positively communicate sector goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc. to people in local area of responsibility.  Provides feed back from people in local area of responsibility to sector HR so sector HR can provide guidance and respond to local  needs as required.
  • May assist or take the lead role in safety programs or safety improvement activities.

Decision Making Authority:

  • Recommends and advises local management regarding Human Resource policies, procedures, and practices, etc.  Decides when to involve sector HR.
  • Recommends hiring, terminations and appropriate discipline.
