Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of university
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association, Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association
Experience: 5 years or more
Area of Specialization: Underground or surface mine design or construction, Mining and exploration, Extraction and processing
Work Experience: Design, Project management, Installation, maintenance and inspection of equipment or facilities, Operations or production
Design Specialization: Mine shafts and hoists, Mine ventilation, Mine services, Mining equipment and machinery design, Mineral treatment machinery and equipment
Type of Mine Experience: Underground mines, Surface mines or quarries, Milling and concentrating, Base metals
Work Setting: Mining company
Specific Skills: Determine the appropriate means of safely and efficiently mining deposits, Plan and design or select mining equipment and machinery, and mineral treatment machinery and equipment, Plan and supervise the development, operation and maintenance of mines, Prepare operations and project estimates, schedules and reports, Implement and co-ordinate mine safety programs
