Purpose of the Job

Mechanical engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept (OME), pre-feasibility (PCE), bankable feasibility (CBE), EPCM and Turnkey Mechanical projects and act as the contractual manager of all Mechanical contracts on site

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Project Management
• Liaise and co-ordinate with the client, project manager and engineers of other disciplines to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications
• Manage the schedule (time), cost, quality and scope on all Mechanical contracts on the project
• Manage the Mechanical Site Supervisors to ensure that Mechanical contractors perform to project safety, environmental and quality requirements
• Effectively utilize company resources
• Accurately mark up designs for drafting personnel
• Ensure Quality standards adhered to by checking accuracy of work before it gets issued
• Advise, monitor and control all Mechanical site staff and contractors on behalf of the Site Project Manager
• Assure the client and project manager that the design, erection, testing and commissioning of a Mechanical installation, under his charge, complies with all safety and statutory requirements
• Act within the framework of Mechanical contracts under his/her management
• Manage high level of risks within project in regard to engineering processes, systems, equipment and infrastructure
• Mechanical Design and Engineering
• Manage internal design and drafting resources via Mechanical Section Leaders
• Manage the Mechanical design team to ensure that Mechanical designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specification documentation, industry norms and the relevant legislation
• Ensure the effective review and approval of Mechanical design and engineering
• Develop improved work practices and ensure familiarity with new mechanical technologies
• Undertake techno-economic investigations
• Provide mechanical inputs for mechanical feasibility studies

Requirements for the Position

Education

• Either BSc Eng (Mechanical), Pr Tech Eng (Mechanical), BTech (Mechanical);
• Professional registration or eligibility

Training

• Computer Literacy

SH&E

• Safety knowledge

Experience

• 5 years experience in Mechanical engineering
• Good understanding of mechanical methods and project management
• Some tertiary work related to either Blue Book, Fidic or NEC conditions of contract
