Superintendent: Metallurgy

Seeking a Superintendent: Metallurgical to join the team of a well known Mining Company in Mpumalanga (Nelspruit/Barberton)

Minimum Requirements

The Following Qualifications And Experience Are Essential:

  • Degree / Diploma in Metallurgy (B-Tech Degree/  NHD is equivalent to a degree)
  • Up to 6 years operational Plant, Shift work, Flotation and Base metals extraction exposure
  • Computer Literacy  (MS Office Suite)

The Following Qualifications And Experience  Would Be Advantageous Or Optional:

  • At least 1 year operational Laboratory research

Although Not Limited To, The Incumbent’s Main Responsibilities Will Include:

Metallurgical balances:
  • Update metallurgical production reports. 
  • Correlate inputs with outputs.  
  • Report findings on a daily basis and provide timely production feedback.  
  • Monitoring and assessment of the process.
Process and plant efficiency:
  • Research samples in the plant and process in the Laboratory to determine if intervention can lead to improvement.  
  • Lab scale and Desktop studies.  
  • Research new technology and apply new improved research methods and equipment (cost and results comparison).  
  • Evaluate Plant trial test.
Process performance evaluation: 
  • Collect all data (including historical) to establish trends toward indicating problems or improvement initiatives.  
  • Maintain metallurgical accounting database.  
  • Apply methods to the rest of the plant.  
  • Identify and initiate suggestions on improvement by means of a report / proposal / presentation etc.
SHREQ: 
  • Enhance and ensure safety awareness throughout the working area.  
  • Derive SOP’s from planned task observations (PTO).  
  • Train personnel / Operators on SOP’s.  
  • Ensure compliance with quality policies and procedures by observing employees during planned task observations.  
  • Suggest methods of improving standards of safety.  
  • Ensure working area and equipment is clean and safe at all times and in good working condition.  
  • PPE is worn during shift and safety rules and regulations adhered to.
People management: 
  • Manage own team’s performance.  
  • Recruit and select employees.  
  • Manage employee relations. 
  • Train and develop employees
