Full Professorship in Ore Geology/Mineral Resources

The University of Tromsø is a leading research and teaching Centre in northern Norway and together with the Norwegian Polar Institute a key provider for Arctic Science. In the framework of a new mineral resource initiative in Norway the Department of Geology at the University of Tromsø, Norway, invites applications for a permanent position in ore geology/mineral resources at the full professor level.

The successful candidate has an expertise in ore geology/mineral resources and a proven research track record to complement the existing research strengths in the fields of structural geology and petrology of the crustal dynamics group which presently comprises four permanent faculty members. Her/his research should focus on the processes and fundamentals of the formation of mineral deposits. Research fields may include, but are not restricted to, fluid-rock interaction, field and structural relationships of mineral deposits, and modeling and quantification of geochemical systems. The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses and supervise students at the MS and PhD levels.

She/he is expected to establish an internationally recognizable research program in ore geology/mineral resources and should demonstrate the ability to generate a high level of external funding.

The department wishes to increase its number of female professors. Women are therefore especially encouraged to apply.
