Specialist I, Material Management (Buyer)

Job Description

  • Managing multi-discipline material management functions and activities on the Eagle Project
  • Procurement, expediting, of construction materials, equipment and services, in accordance with the project’s standards, specifications and construction schedules
  • Preparation of bid documents, requests for proposals, quotations, and soliciting of prices from bidders for materials/equipment in accordance with specifications, drawings, commercial terms and conditions of the project.
  • Reviewing prices submitted by suppliers, supervising preparation of bid comparison and letters of recommendation for management’s approval to purchase
  • Creating purchase orders, awarded packages and post-award administration
  • Invoice processing and resolution.
  • Reviewing field requisitions to determine the best sources of supply. Developing additional sources of supply.
  • Complying with Fluor’s code of ethics and purchasing code of conduct, and ensuring compliance.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Experience in a project procurement role, industry experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, or Engineering is preferred
  • Experience in overall RFQ development, issue, subsequent negotiation and award of engineered and construction purchases
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent computer literacy skills and skills in MS Office
  • Knowledge of computer procurement systems, and ability to quickly learn our proprietary procurement software
  • Strong decision making skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
