Business Unit

  • [Company] , is part of the Water Management Group within [Company] Wilkins manufactures an extensive line of plumbing, fire protection, waterworks, and irrigation water control products ranging from pressure reducing valves and backflow preventers to thermostatic mixing valves.

Brief Description

  • This position reports to the Materials Director, the Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for evaluating, consolidating, and negotiating within commodity categories to support [Company] supply chain needs. Is responsible for overall evaluating vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable supplier based on price, quality, and total cost of ownership.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage and facilitate all phases of supply management activities between division business units and their suppliers for specific commodities.
  • Implement sourcing strategies to support corporate and divisional objectives, providing the company competitive advantage in the areas of materials, supplies, and services.
  • Locate, analyze, and develop a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future commodity needs.
  • Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Negotiate and manage all contracts and agreements for assigned commodities.
  • Manage suppliers, cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Understand, track, and forecast the key cost drivers and market factors for assigned commodities.
  • Implement appropriate sourcing strategies to control the company’s purchased material costs and to assure an adequate source of supply.
  • Develop cross-functional teams to understand company-wide needs and evaluate suppliers.
  • Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process.
  • Developing strategies for assigned procurement area to include spend analysis, market and geographic considerations and strategic importance.

Job Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with preferably a minor in supply chain or production control.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the supply chain/purchasing area.
  • At least three years of management experience managing employees, preferred.
  • The candidate must be well organized, analytical work well with others, and have excellent computer skills in the areas of Microsoft Office products at an intermediate or advance level.
  • Project management experience, knowledgeable of six sigma or lean manufacturing, preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Experience sourcing metal commodities a plus.
  • APICS Certified, preferred.
