Environmental/Industrial Hygiene Technician

Responsibilities:

• The Chantilly office of ECS seeks environmental technicians with experience and knowledge of environmental remediation monitoring and oversight, and air sample collection and analysis. In this position you will perform asbestos and lead abatement monitoring, contaminated soil excavation monitoring, soil and ground water sampling, and air sample collection.  These are field-based positions.
• Daily communication is required with site contractors, other technicians and project managers. Provided training: ECS will train candidates in our methods of performing observations, inspections, testing, and to document findings in accordance with accepted engineering practice; but you should have prior experience with indoor air sampling, abatement monitoring, and/or contaminated soil removal monitoring. As experience increases, ECS will encourage and aid technicians in increasing level of competence and skills through internal training programs and external programs of certification.
• Local candidates with knowledge of the VA, MD and DC region are strongly preferred.

Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

• Recent college graduates with an environmental focus are encouraged to apply.
• 1-5 years related experience required.
• NIOSH 582 Equivalency Certification preferred.
• Asbestos monitoring experience preferred.
• Virginia Project Monitor Certification preferred.
• Solid communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Notes: Walk-in candidates are welcome to complete an application in our local office.
• ECS does not supply vehicles; therefore, you must be able to provide a vehicle suitable for use on construction sites. We will compensate you at $0.55/mile for use of your own vehicle for work related activities. Driver’s license verification required; must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the ECS driving policy.
