Environmental Technicians

Responsibilities:

• The Chantilly office of [Company] seeks environmental technicians with experience and some knowledge of environmental remediation monitoring and oversight, and sample collection and analysis. The major focus of this position will be monitoring and sampling during contaminated soil and groundwater removal and remediation.  Depending on your background you may also be involved in soil and groundwater studies and underground storage tank assessments and aspects of industrial hygiene services such as asbestos-containing materials, lead-based paint and IAQ/mold testing.
• Daily communication is required with site contractors, other technicians and project managers. Provided training: [Company] will train candidates in our methods of performing observations, inspections, testing, and to document findings in accordance with accepted engineering practice; but some prior experience is preferred. As experience increases, [Company] will encourage and aid technicians in increasing level of competence and skills through internal training programs and external programs of certification.

Qualifications:

• 6 months to 1 year experience preferred.
• College degree in environmental science or geology preferred; other science related degrees will be considered.
• OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training preferred.
• Experience with field sampling and testing a plus.
• Solid communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Must be able to work independently and follow directions.
• Notes: [Company] does not supply vehicles; therefore, you must be able to provide a vehicle suitable for use on construction sites. We will compensate you at $0.55/mile for use of your own vehicle for work related activities. Driver’s license verification required; must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the [Company] driving policy.
