Survey Assistant (Open Cut)

The Role 
An opportunity exists for an experienced Survey Assistant based at our Mt Rawdon operation in Queensland. Reporting to the Senior Surveyor you will focus on assisting with all site surveying activities with the primary emphasis being on survey control for the open pit operation.  Routing tasks will include blast pattern layouts, grade control mark-outs, general mining survey control and survey aspects of the geotechnical monitoring programme.  Additionally, you will be required to assist with the safe and efficient management of the surveying department and survey assets. 
  
With a background or desire to gain further experience in Surveying, the successful candidate must have the drive and ability to work autonomously, deliver results and to contribute to the safe work environment at Mt Rawdon. 
  
As this position is residential, flexibility on relocation provision will be considered for the successful applicant. 
  
To be successful     
To be considered for this role you must have the ability to demonstrate experience/qualifications in the following areas:-   
  • High commitment to safe working practices at all times 
  • Previous work experience in a surveying related role is highly desirable (mine, civil or construction fields) 
  • Tertiary qualifications in surveying would be highly advantageous but not essential 
  • Previous exposure to and a working knowledge of Surpac would be desirable proactive approach and drive and commitment to deliver results 
  • Well developed written and oral communication skills
