Geology Manager

The Role  
Reporting to the General Manager the Geology Manager will have overall responsibility for providing geological control of the open cut mine development to maximise ore recovery and grade control at all stages of the mining process. This position will also be accountable to lead the exploration activities within the Mt Rawdon province, with the key focus on delivering new resources annually.  

The role is responsible for managing and mentoring a team of staff mine and exploration geologists, field assistants, as well as drilling contractors. Key to the delivery of the program is management of safety, cultural, community and landholder relationships.  

This position must ensure Resources reconcile with processed material and drilling activities are conducted to industry best practice from a safety and quality perspective. Accountability also includes the delivery of optimal grade tonnes as per the Mine Schedule and Forecasts; as well ensuring geology group deliverables 
are made within the budget framework.  
 
To be successful  
 
To be considered for this role you must have the ability to demonstrate experience/qualifications in the following areas:-  
  • A strong focus and adherence to safety, environmental best practice and continuous improvement.  
  • At least 15 years relevant geology experience, of which at least 5 years must be in supervisory or senior capacity.  
  • Tertiary qualifications in Geology or similar.
  • Proven knowledge of ore body modelling and estimation techniques, related to open cut ore bodies is essential.  
  • Experience with a range of gold mineralisation deposit styles is highly desirable.  
  • Software experience in Surpac is preferred but not essential.  
  • Ability to act as a mentor and coach to other members of the team.  
  • Setting direction and leading the team, including leading by example the behaviours consistent with Evolution’s values.
