Mine Geologist

CITIC Pacific Mining is developing the Sino Iron Project, a world class, large-scale magnetite iron ore project located at Cape Preston, 100km south west of Karratha in Western Australia. The approximate $5 billion project has a current mine life of 25 years and is the largest magnetite project under construction in Australia, and the first to include large scale downstream processing.

The project involves construction of significant infrastructure including a magnetite concentrator, pellet plant, port facilities, a combined cycle power station, and a large desalination plant.

The Opportunity
CITIC Pacific Mining is currently looking for Mine Geologists for an Australian first Magnetite Iron Ore project. This position is a 9/5 FIFO roster from Perth

The Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist - the purpose of the role is to perform mine geology and grade control functions for the extraction of the company's ore reserves to ensure minimal ore loss and dilution to maximise productivity and ore recovery.

The Requirements
  • Essential for the role is a minimum tertiary qualification in Geology and demonstrated experience working in an open pit mining environment.
  •  Ideally you will be an experienced user of Vulcan software, with a sound knowledge of grade control and sampling protocols.
  • You must have the ability to organise daily grade control activities, be self-motivated and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A current WA Manual Drivers licence is an essential requirement
  • A copy of all current qualifications / licences must be provided at the time of interview.
